Dewkes Design

Posted: 5th November 2022
At Fresh we like to take on jobs and see them through from start to finish. This was the case with @dewkespet in Swansea. From logo design to painting two shop fronts for them.

When we are asked to create or update logos we enjoy working with a theme. In this case the main focus was to incorporate a paw print into the logo. Artist and designer Phil worked through several concepts before landing on the final dewkes design.

The initial idea was to fit the pawprint around the W of Dewkes. With a simple but bold serif typeface to sit against the softer elements of the design. After working with the D in Dewkes he came up with the following design. It was important to incorporate both the D and an icon that tells people what they do.

Using a simple colour palette and matching the blues to the RAL colour system. Meant all the colours were the same online as the signs. The rich vibrant blues give a more professional look next to the off white ivory. But still look playful and inviting.

After coming up with the design and colour scheme for the logo. Phil then applied it to several elements inside and outside the business. Including a hanging sign, interior tiled walls and some smaller details to make the shop fronts unique to them.

We really enjoyed working with the team at Dewkes as they were open to design changes and came back to us when they opened their second shop in Sketty.
